What we collect
When you send an enquiry
The quote form asks for your name, phone number, email address, the subject of your enquiry, and any details you choose to include. Please do not send identity documents, medical records, banking details or other sensitive records through the general website form. A Cornerstone adviser will tell you how to provide documents securely when they are needed.
When you allow analytics
Our first-party JOV analytics records page paths, link and button clicks, time spent, scroll depth, device class, two-letter browser language, referrer host, campaign or share tags, and an estimated country, region and city. It uses random identifiers for this browser and tab so we can distinguish a new visit from a return visit.
JOV does not store your raw IP address for analytics. It may keep a keyed, one-way hash of the address for short-term abuse prevention. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking or browser fingerprinting.
How and why we use it
- To respond to your enquiry and take the steps you ask us to take.
- To provide insurance advice, quotations and client service where you choose to proceed.
- To keep appropriate business, compliance and communication records.
- To prevent spam, misuse and security incidents.
- To understand and improve this website, but only after you allow analytics.
Submitting an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing. If Cornerstone offers an optional marketing subscription later, it will be presented as a separate choice.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and related records are kept only for as long as they are reasonably needed to handle the request, maintain appropriate client and compliance records, resolve disputes, or meet a legal obligation. JOV analytics visitor and event records are kept for up to 24 months. The keyed address hash used for abuse prevention is cleared after 90 days.
You can withdraw analytics consent at any time from the cookie notice. Doing so stops further analytics and removes the JOV identifiers stored in your browser.
Your rights
Subject to POPIA and other applicable law, you may ask whether we hold personal information about you, request access to it, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, object to certain processing, or request deletion where we no longer have a lawful reason to retain it. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
If we cannot resolve a privacy concern, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za.
